THE DOER OF THE WORD – Reasoning Factor

Whenever God speaks to us and we refuse to do it, you will notice that reasoning with your head has gotten in the way and you have been deceived in trusting in something else other than the truth (God’s word).

But be doers of the word [obey the message], and merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].

James 1:22 (AMP)

The major problem is trying to understand what God has said using the human mind or mentally. We cannot spend excessive time trying to understand everything the word says, if we bear witness in the spirit, we can move ahead and do it.

Infact, God wants you to obey his word whether or not you feel like it, he wants you to understand his plan for you whether it goes with our taste.

…… When God speaks, we are to take deliberate action not explain it away…

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

Proverbs 3:5 (AMP)

This means never rely on reasoning with your mind. Reasoning opens the door for deception and brings much confusion in our lives. This is because the moment we depend on our feelings, we are swayed by the changes that occurs in our feeling hereby making series of mistakes.

The reason why so many people are confused in their heart and are unable to make quality decisions in their life is because they try to figure things out my themselves with themselves and they are confused themselves.

We must stop figuring things out with our minds to stop the confusion that’s happening to us. We must learn to depend solely on God and his word alone. It is then we can enjoy peace and joy which God had made available to us via his word. Don’t forget that reasoning and confusion goes hand in hand.

The truth is that reasoning is very dangerous in the fulfilment of our destiny. We can reason and figure out something out that make sense to us but what we have reasoned to be correct may still be incorrect.

The human mind likes logic, order, and reason. It like to deal with what it can comprehend. In that case, we have tendency to put things in their supposed right place based on the compartments of our mind, thinking, “This nicely fit in here”. We can find something our mind is totally comfortable with and still be totally wrong.

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 9:1, I am speaking the truth in Christ. I am not lying; my conscience [enlightened and prompted] by the Holy Spirit bearing witness with me. Paul knew what he was doing was right but not because he could reason it was right, not because his reasoning said it was right, but because it bore witness in his Spirit.

God gives us understanding on many issues, but we do not have to understand everything to walk with the Lord and in obedience to His will. There are times when God leaves huge question marks as tools in our lives to stretch our faith.

It is difficult for human beings to give up reasoning and simply trust God, but once the process is accomplished, the mind enters into a place of rest.
