Our words are important part of our lives and it therefore has huge impact on us in many ways. Think of it, even when simple syllables are uttered by your baby in her first year, it means a lot to you as a parent, in the same vein, God is happy when we speak, especially when we speak His word in form of confession. Words are very powerful in moulding our lives and shaping them in accordance to God’s plan and purpose for our lives. Word can be used to create and it can be used to destroy, we can therefore say that words have creative power and destructive power depending on how they are used.
In the book of John Chapter one, we read that God’s word had been in existence before the creation of the universe and this same word is the instrument by which God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 KJV
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Proverbs 18:21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. This is a statement that we should pay attention to, because the understanding of this scripture and the practice of it, can change our lives forever. Every time we utter words out our mouth they can either be a bless or a curse (creative or destructive) in our lives or to those we speak them to.
When God would create the entire universe, the bible made us to understand from Gen. 1:3, how God spoke things to being; He spoke light into being, separating light from darkness, and then from verses 9-25 of this same the bible made us to understand how He spoke the dry land to be separated from the waters, including every living thing on earth and everything in the waters were created by the spoken word of God. Therefoere, we need to be cautious about the words we speak, such that we take time to select our words before we utter them.
Proverbs 18:21 KJV
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
What we say determines who we truly are. Our mouth expresses what we desire, think, feel or want and it becomes obvious who we are by the words of our mouth even when we say them unconsciously. A man can always be known by what he says; Matthew 12:34-35 tells us that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. It is also revealed in the scriptures, that a good man out of the good treasures of his heart, he flings out good thing. Our words reveals our inner thoughts and attitudes, you can put it this way, our words and actions are like the screen of a monitor, it is the information you put into the system, that the CPU will give you back on the screen, what u see on the screen is the action, if you did not input anything data, the screen will have no action to play out.
So it is with our word and action, it is what we have feed our hearts with over time that our mouth and actions will produce; therefore, for us to produce positive words and actions, we must feed our mind, with the right stuffs, which can only come by hearing the word of God.
This is why you must guard you heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. It is important to note that it is with the heart we serve the Lord, and if the heart is choked by ungodly things, we cannot serve the Lord the way He should truly be served.
I know that words can decrease or increase our level of joy. They can also affect our prayers and have positive or negative effects on our future. With this understanding, we must pay good attention to the word of God, because the word of God contains words that are capable of changing our lives and destiny. If you don’t like how your life is right now or the way it is going, wisdom says to check you words or the words being spoken over your life, because words can either make you or mare you.
It is important for you to know that God has great plans for you. Isaiah 55:9 tells us, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours and my thoughts than your thoughts. It is clear in this scripture that God’s desire and plan for us is way beyond our comprehension and the only way we can come into this and fully is to partner with God, many believers today do not know that we are partners with God and we are to partner with God in this life and that, it is only as we walk in alignment to His word that we see his word made manifest in our lives
