TREASURE IN EARTHEN VESSEL

In the city of Nazareth, there was a young boy his name was Paul. Paul was a very courageous boy from a tender age, he loves his father and mother and can’t help but follow what they believed in. He was raised to achieve one vision; to be a killer of Christians. He was trained to become one of the best in his country. He was also handsome and good-looking but he believed all that he was made for was to live for the cause of his parents which is so see that Christians and molested or killed.

Acts 8:3

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

He believed that this is what his life was meant for and because of this he pursued it with all the strength.  In fact, after graduating from the University, he took it up as a career and went about from one city to another taking permission from lawyers and from other dignitaries in order to do this mission.  He went about ensuring that no follower of Jesus escape death.

Acts 9:1-2

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

Now he was old enough to be a man of his own and still in his mission of killing and molesting Christians this time it took permission from the head of the city to go to other cities to look for Christians in which he can molest or kill. This time around he was preparing to go other cities which are not too far from where he stayed but it has been observed that many of those people who were his target had migrated to these citied. Acts 9:2

He prepared himself to go to where he could find them. He had gotten information about where they were hidden. He called on his men who usually accompany him on his mission but God had a better plan for him. This day, he will meet his own very creator and the one he had been persecuting all the while. This journey he had embark on will definitely change his life forever.

As Paul and his men continued their journey to Damascus, a shining fell upon them, the kind of light that has the capacity to blind one’s eyes when looked in directly. No one dear to try it; Paul heard a voice and this voice revolutionized his world forever. He had met someone greater than him on his way.  The one he met is someone that he could not even stand, someone that he could not resist someone who he also called Lord this man whose name was Paul met with his creator. Acts 9:3

There all his cravings to kill the followers of Christ and his ambition to bring them bound to Jerusalem died.  He let go of all his ambitions and cravings. Infact his degree and his other qualifications were no more his pride. His focused had changed with this encounter he had made up his mind to pant after the only true God. Jesus like he had been running after the wrong things he seeks with his whole heart to run for and with God’s plan for him. Acts 9:4-5

He had been blindfolded by religion and cultural belief which were never God’s plan for him. He was living the same life in which his fore fathers had lived. He did not know that this was not his purpose until he met his Lord. He stopped running aimlessly after a future that was uncertain.  He met Jesus on his way to Damascus; Jesus, who now has become his master and Lord. Acts 9:4-6

He was amazed when Jesus told him, he had been persecuting him because he had never met him before. Little did he know that when he persecuted his followers, he was also persecuting Him. Now, he knows he had only two options now; either to accept the lordship of Jesus for eternal life or die eternally. He made the right choice; he chooses life but this will definitely come with some sorts of persecutions and challenges. Acts 9:5

In this same, there was a man who was one of the followers of Christ. He had dreaded his man called Paul having heard about his all the atrocities he had done against the followers of Jesus Christ. He also his himself and prayed with the brethren. Then just this afternoon, God spoke to him about a man he needs to go and see, talk to and pray for. When he knew the identity of the man, he became afraid but with God’s word of encouragement he left for the place. Acts 9:10

Paul and his men after the encounter had stayed in the house of Judas and for three days have not eaten until Ananias came to them. He prayed for Paul, whose eyes the Lord opened and that was how his journey began. The journey of being mightily used by God to preach and teach the gospel with accompanied signs and wonders.

1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

The story of Paul shows us that we all are like clays in the hands of the potter who is our creator. He chooses to make us his very own and placed treasures within us in order to show forth his glory upon the earth and reveal the excellency of his wisdom unto all men. If he could use one who was once upon a time a full-time murderer, he could definitely use anybody. He uses men no matter their weaknesses and he then strengthen them. Truly he has preserved us to show forth his glory and like a house he is building us for his habitation. Isn’t that glorious. Indeed, these treasures are in earthen vessel.
